Insurance: CAI Digital Goes Live, Accelerating Claims and Reducing Fraud

Milan, 9 April 2026 – More than 80% of policyholders say they are in favour of digital claims management. However, errors, omissions and incomplete data when completing the CAI (Constatazione Amichevole di Incidente – Accident Statement Form) continue to be among the main causes of delays in claims handling. In this context, Datlas Group is enabling the digital transformation of insurance processes, combining innovation and compliance to make claims management faster, more secure and more integrated.

As of 8 April, insurers are required to offer customers digital tools for claims management: a major shift introduced by IVASS Regulation No. 56/2025, bringing accident statements into the digital era. While the CAI form remains available on paper, it is entering a new phase built around efficiency, traceability and data quality.

Digitisation addresses one of the insurance industry’s most critical areas. In Italy, around 24.5% of claims present a potential risk of fraud. At the same time, claims handling times remain a source of operational inefficiency, often driven by the quality and completeness of the information collected at the outset.

Datlas’s solution makes it possible to act directly at the scene of the accident through an intuitive online form, improving data capture and reducing errors and omissions.
The solution can reduce claim opening times by around 90%, with a resulting reduction of approximately 60% in internal claim handling costs.
Finally, digitising the process strengthens fraud prevention systems through the availability of structured, certified data.

“Today, the real challenge is not collecting data, but making it reliable and usable in decision-making. Yet many organisations still struggle with incomplete data, poor integration and skills gaps. In insurance, these issues have a direct impact on claims management and the ability to prevent fraud. In this context, CAI Digital marks a paradigm shift: it improves data quality from the moment information is captured, accelerates processes and strengthens analytics and control capabilities.”
Marco Bragadin, CEO of Datlas Group

Datlas Group supports many insurers in digitising the entire claims management cycle, from guided CAI completion through to integration with insurers’ systems. The use of tools such as SPID and advanced electronic signature ensures reliable user identification and the legal validity of the data collected, contributing to more transparent and secure claims management.

In this context, CAI Digital is not simply a regulatory compliance measure, but a concrete opportunity to make the entire insurance ecosystem more efficient, improving the user experience while strengthening fraud prevention.
